Lets talk breathwork

Hello everyone,

Lets talk breathwork

Why is this topic important?

Well, we auto learn to breath when we are born and somewhere along the way, emotions come in the way and we breath differently.  Anger/flight – probably breathing rapidly as the heart races, happiness – more calm or rapid breaths, sadness – deep shallow breathing, you get the picture.

Now lets learn the basics:

Learning how to manage your breath will enable you to manage your emotions and the situation you are in.  Lets come to sitting down either cross-legged or in a chair/sofa with your feet down.  Bring your hands to your knees or together in your lap.  Steady yourself and take a deep breath in and exhale.  On the next deep breath, close your eyes if you are in a safe place and exhale slowly…

Breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose, allowing your chest and belly to expand as air fills your lungs. Then exhale slowly through your nose. Repeat.

Another option is to count your way to breathing.  Count to 8 on the inhale, inhale fully and hold for 4, then release slowly counting down from 8.  Exhale completely and hold for 4 before repeating the breath cycle.

Both these approaches are simple go-tos to manage your nervous system and bring calm into your moment when in anxiety or any stressful situation….breath calm into your mind!

Friends, I invite you to add this breath technique to your toolkit of stress management and bring calm into your lives.

Namaste!
