Most people I know tend to reflect on themselves as they turn 50 a bit more deeply than when they turned 40. You may have noted that females are more open to discussing their feelings and wants than men. This has to do with male and female energies that we all have, but that's a topic for another day. Men tend to either think of slowing down or chasing their heart's unfulfilled desires. It would behoove men to be more open to talking about their feelings with their significant others or like-minded friends. Prior to speaking to their significant others, it is also important to assess if they are supportive of such discussions. It is important to not perceive weakness when the door of vulnerability is opened by men. It is about understanding each other and not all relationships are perfect. A neutral way out is to develop a sacred space in a new set of people. A new friend group could be cultivated by visiting your local yoga studio or an online yoga channel that embraces a mental health practice.
Why is this important?
Men tend to suppress their emotional needs by pursuing physical elements, sometimes not knowing what they really want. Discovering what you are really seeking from life in a safe and supporting environment may be more beneficial than chasing wild dreams. Think of it as trying to beat around the bush versus taking a logical, methodical path in searching for an unknown.
Finding a coach that you feel comfortable with is important. Incorporating the yogic exercises not only has physical benefits but by incorporating breath techniques, provides for a calmer mind and laser focused thoughts. Then, there is thinking of your dietary needs. When it comes to men, often, they are clueless of what to consume. Knowing your body composition is important because not all foods work in the same way for each person. They key to knowing what food, exercise, and needs you have a fulfilling life begins with a journey of introspection.
At DYWA, we begin the introspective work by determining your composition, your DNA using several tools, Ayurveda being one of them. Then we work towards determining what it is that you are truly seeking. Reach out when you're ready to take this journey of health and we can create a customized plan for you.
